Kordial Nutrients. A blend of herbs designed to offer nutrtional support from menstrual irregularities, premenstrual syndrome (PMS), and menopausal symptoms. Phytoestrogens are compounds in plants that exert mild estrogenic effects by occupying estrogen receptors. They have been shown to alleviate hot flashes and other menopausal symptoms, also they offset vaginal drying common in post menopausal women. The four most popular phytoestrogen-containing herbs used for menopausal hot flashes are black cohosh, dong quai, Chinese ginseng and licorice root. Black cohosh was known by native Americans as a natural remedy for gynecological complaints, it has strong antispasmodic and sedative properties, making it useful for any inflammatory condition associated with spasm or tension, such as dysmennorhea, menstrual pain and menopausal discomforts. Dong quai is popular for treating both menstrual and menopausal problems. It contains coumarin, an anticoagulant, and coumestans (phytoestrogens). It increases blood circulation to the pelvis and improves reproductive organ function. It also relaxes smooth muscles, therefore relieving menstrual cramps. Chinese ginseng, perhaps the most famous medicinal plant of China, exerts estrogenic activity. It may prevent atrophic vaginitis, and help to regulate body temperature. Eleutherococcus Senticosus helps to prevent adrenal hypertrophy and excess corticosteroid production in response to stress. All varieties of ginseng strengthen the adrenal and reproductive glands. Red clover acts as an antibiotic, appetite suppressant, blood purifier and relaxant. Chaste tree berry has been shown to reduce menstrual complaints, especially PMS, amennorhea, dysmennorhea and endometriosis as well as menopausal symptoms, especially hot flashes. Blue Cohosh has been shown to improve poor uterine tone by stimulating the uterus and increasing blood flow to pelvis. Peony root supports liver function, which often alleviates menstrual difficulties. Alfalfa acts as a diuretic and is used to ease inflammation, lower cholesterol, balance hormones and promote pituitary function. Wild yam has an antispasmodic action on the uterus and may be extremely effective for simple menstrual cramps. Also helpful for PMS and menopausal symptoms. Marigold helps to regulate menstrual cycle. Contains lutein which has been associated with reduced risk of breast cancer and cervical dysplasia. Red raspberry decreases menstrual bleeding, relaxes uterine and intestinal spasms and strengthens uterine walls. Helpful for hot flashes and menstrual cramps.
